In Search of a New NFL Team: Chicago Bears

I am on a quest to find a new NFL team. I'm going team by team to find out which team is the best fit for me. Now let's look at the NFC North. Out of this group we have the reigning Super Bowl champs! Living in central Illinois you would think this team is the obvious choice. Every where I go I see DA Bears shirts, hats, car flags- they're every where. I have some concerns about jumping on the Bears bandwagon so let's see.

The first thing that jumps out at me is that Jay Cutler went to Vanderbilt. What? The smart school of the SEC- no thanks. Plus his attitude during the NFC Championship game left a lot to be desired. I'm not convinced Cutler is a winner. I need a team that WINS. That's the entire point of me finding a new team. I'm also not sold on Lovie Smith but he bought himself an  extension which ensures Smith a job through the 2013 season. Not sure I can jump on the Lovie train. One of my biggest issues with Lovie came during the NFC Championship game. Smith did a solid job this season until the Todd Collins fiasco of the Championship Game against the Green Bay Packers. This in my opinion is grounds for near-dismissal or a serious reprimand. One of the good things about Smith is that he upgraded his coaching staff this season. By bringing in Mike Martz and Mike Tice to coach the offense and offensive lines respectively as well as promoting Rod Marinelli, he had one of the most experienced and successful staffs in the NFL.

It would be very easy to jump on the Bears bandwagon due to location but if my two biggest questions are the Coach and the QB I think I'll pass.

Tune in tomorrow when I discuss the Green Bay Packers who did something of significance this past year...
